Nano Particle Size Analysis

Light Scattering

  • 90Plus – Submicron particle size distributions for particles ranging from around 2nm up to 5 microns by Dynamic Light Scattering at 90 or 15 degrees. Optional zeta potential analysis (see ZetaPlus and ZetaPALS). CFR21 Part 11 compliant software is now available for the 90Plus.
  • New 90PDP flow cell and software for polymer molecular weights by static light scattering with the 90Plus

  • FOQELS - Non-invasive studies of particle size distribution and dynamics of submicron particles at high concentration using fibre-optic back-scatter technique.

  • BI-200SM – Research grade multi-angle goniometer systems for static and dynamic light scattering studies of colloids and polymers. Measurements of submicron particle size distributions, polymer molecular weights, radius of gyration, second virial coefficient etc.

Centrifugal Sedimentation

  • BI-DCP – Disc Centrifuge Photosedimentometer for high resolution particle size distribution analysis of all types of particles and droplets in suspension from ~10nm to ~20µm.

  • BI-XDC – X-Ray Disc Centrifuge for high resolution particle size distribution analysis of x-ray absorbing (usually inorganic) particles from ~10nm to ~100µm.

Zeta Potential of Colloidal and Nano Particles

What is Zeta Potential
  • ZetaPlus – Determination of zeta potential distributions of fine particles (solid, liquid or gas) suspended in aqueous or certain other high polarity liquids. Submicron particle size analysis option (see 90Plus).

  • ZetaPALS – Determination of mean zeta potentials of fine particles (solid, liquid or gas) suspended in virtually any clear liquid. Can be used with low electrolyte concentration aqueous media but particularly useful for low polarity (organic) liquids or viscous media and other low mobility situations. Includes ZetaPlus. Submicron particle size analysis option (see 90Plus).

Light Scattering

  • BI-200SM - Research goniometer with wide angular range for both static and dynamic light scattering applications in particle and macromolecular characterization. Accommodates wide range of lasers and accessories. (See also BI-9000AT Correlator.)

  • BI-MwA – New multiangle fibre-optic system for characterizing macromolecules in solution by static light scattering.

  • FOQELS - Non-invasive studies of particle size distribution and dynamics of submicron particles at high concentration using fibre-optic back-scatter technique.

  • TurboCorr – Brookhaven's new digital correlator / signal processor in ultra-compact USB form. Up to 522 channels; auto- and cross-correlation modes. Comprehensive range of applications software.
  • Accessories

  • BI-DNDC - Differential Refractometer. Applications include determining specific refractive index increments for polymer molecular weight determinations by static light scattering. Can also be used as flow through monitor for GPC/SEC.

  • BI-870 - Dielectric Constant Meter. Simple, rapid determination of dielectric constants of simple and mixed liquids. Applications include zeta potential determinations in non-aqueous media (see ZetaPALS).   • BI-SFS – Sample Filtration System. Essential when studying very small particles by light scattering.

  • Refractometers and Viscometers – A range of instruments from WGE Dr Bures for polymer characterization and use as GPC/SEC detectors (contact Brookhaven for further details).
